| NAM Ministerial Meeting will Close After Approving Final Document | |||
CUBA, April 30, 2009. The Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Coordinating Bureau will close today in Havana after adopting the Final Document of the forum that will be submitted to the Egypt Summit of Heads of State and Government, next July. During the last session of the meeting, Egyptian representatives will report about preparations for the 15 NAM Summit, in which Cuba will pass over to Egypt the Chair of the Movement. Today, Foreign ministers will continue to express views on current problems pending that require the coordinated action of NAM countries. Representatives of the NAM countries have repeatedly acknowledged Cuba's role as Chair of the movement for nearly three years, and they have also insisted in the need to coordinate efforts at the world level to face the current international crisis, generated by capitalist powers and financial institutions with its strongest negative impact on Third World nations. The necessity of a new, fair international economic order that benefits poor nations; the rejection of the US economic blockade of Cuba; the support of the causes of Palestine and Puerto Rico; the demand for the release of the five Cuban antiterrorists held in US jails, have been issues permanently present in the sessions of the Ministerial Meeting.
